Earth day is a great holiday that brings awareness of our Mother Earth and teaches us how to take care of it. Earth day will motivate you to Reduce your carbon footprint, Reuse Plastic containers, and Recycle all that paper. What makes it even more fun for San Diegans is that we get to celebrate it in our perfect weather. PLUS!!! We have a whole Fair for it in Balboa Park, known as the San Diego Earth Fair.
Don’t be surprised if people play hooky tomorrow just so that they can get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and all the fun activities the San Diego Earth Fair has to offer. For more information check out this link:
#2 A little History
The very first celebration of Earth Day took place on April 22, 1970 and it was organized by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson. He put on this celebration in reaction to an oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Now more than 20 million people participate and is global with more than 180 countries who celebrate.
* Plant a Tree
* Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
* Clean your local beach or park
* Ride your bike to work tomorrow
* Exchange old light bulbs for environmentally friendly ones
* Plant more desert plants like cactus and succulents (especially in San Diego since we need to conserve water due to the drought)
It’s always a fun and healthy idea to grow your own fruits and vegetables. Our very own acupuncturist, Judy Ann has grown quite the eccentric garden. We will soon post a blog about her garden and how to grow delicious and fresh fruits and vegetables so keep an eye out for it.
