I went into my first day not in the best of shape. I had a headache and my day was a little chaotic and stressful. When my appointment time came around I had a million things to do and I almost skipped it. But I decided that this was important to me and I knew that once my treatment was complete I would have a clear and rejuvenated mind.
As usual, I fell asleep very quickly. I woke up halfway through my treatment and realized my headache was completely gone. Judy took out all my needles and I felt energized. Judy felt my pulse before and after my treatment and she said my pulse felt smoother after my treatment. Once I changed I quickly got to writing because I was so energized and excited about how I felt.
I had my treatment and I went in with high energy and couldn't fall asleep during my treatment. Nothing much to report on that day. But so far I'm feeling great!
Hello my name is Natalie and some of you may recognize me because I'm the receptionist at Acupuncture Express and I'm in charge of setting all of your appointments and answering the phone. My duties at Acupuncture Express also include Marketing and Business Development.
As someone who works at an Acupuncture Clinic, I of course get Acupuncture treatments. However, I don't get them as often as I should. I get a treatment about once a month. When new patients come in, it's especially important to receive more acupuncture in the first month and then to maintain your health through monthly maintenance. Often, we recommend that our patients come in once or twice a week for four weeks and then the acupuncturist re-evaluates from there. Since I've never received that much Acupuncture in a month, I decided to try it myself and see how I feel. This is a perfect time to try it because I do have some aches and pains, stress and a sick family member which is causing a lot of worry and concern in my life.
I'm already aware of the benefits of Acupuncture and how it works for me but I'm excited to see how Acupuncture will benefit me with more visits and consistency. I plan to get treatment twice a week for four weeks and I will be giving a weekly update where I will be describing my symptoms and how I feel.....just straight facts.
Wish me luck!
This Sunday, June 7th is National Cancer Survivors Day. This is a day to celebrate loved ones who have survived cancer and to support those who are currently battling the disease. At Acupuncture Express, we celebrate every day by donating Acupuncture treatments to cancer patients. For every membership sold, we donate an equivalent membership to someone who is currently battling Cancer or has recently completed chemo-therapy. This means that they get one treatment every month for a year!
The Value of Acupuncture in Cancer Care
According to cancerresearchuk.org, "People who use acupuncture often say that it helps them to feel relaxed and improves their overall feeling of well-being. One of the main reasons people with cancer use acupuncture is to help relieve sickness (nausea) caused by chemotherapy or other cancer drugs. "

Many times when we have any sort of pain, dysfunction or disease we want to get relief and we want it quickly. Unless you plan on taking pain medications for the rest of your life (which we hope you would never choose) pain relief can be a just a few treatments or a some what longer process. The good news is that your body heals much faster than the time it takes to get out of balance.
"The body wants to be in balance and it takes much less time to heal than it does to reach a state of imbalance."
When it comes to Acupuncture, we like to use the the analogy of crooked teeth:
If you are going to straighten your teeth and you get braces, how long does it take to straighten those teeth out? Average is about two years... and then after that...you need to use a retainer or you will end up with the crooked teeth again. The good news is Acupuncture doesn't take nearly as long as straightening your teeth. The body wants to be in balance and it takes much less time to heal than it does to reach a state of imbalance.
Then after your body is in balance, some people choose monthly maintenance visits, which is like having a retainer on your teeth. Monthly maintenance will keep your body in balance and help prevent further pain, dysfunction or disease.
Here at Acupuncture Express we talk about Relief Care vs. Corrective Care:
Relief Care is when you seek just a few treatments to get you out of pain, but the true cause of your problem has not been corrected. However, Corrective Care is a plan to correct the root cause of your problem that's giving you pain, dysfunction or disease. At our clinic we individualize our treatment plans depending on the patient's wants and needs.
